tWIXT TWO WORLDS

ART CURATING, 2014-5

In 2013, I was the recipient of a Curatorial Fellowship funded by the Arts Council of England and organised by the Contemporary Art Society and Whitechapel Gallery in London to explore Public Collections in the South Region of England. The resulting exhibition, Twixt Two Worlds, was first on display at Whitechapel Gallery in London and then toured to the Towner Art Gallery in Eastbourne. Thanks to this show, in 2014 I was nominated for the ICI Gerrit Lansing Independent Vision Curatorial Award.

With works by: William Fox Talbot, Eadweard Muybridge, Etienne Jules Marey, Albert Londe, George Albert Smith, William Friese-Greene, James Williamson, R.W. Paul, Alfred Darling, Lumière Brothers, Steven Pippin, Susan Hiller, Saskia Olde Wolbers, Douglas Gordon, Jane and Louise Wilson.

Alongside the show, I contributed with an essay to the book of the series and curated the public programme across both venues. The latter included the day-event Double Vision dedicated to magic lantern practice at Whitechapel Gallery. With contributions by: Stephen Herbert, Lou Hazelwood, OHT / Filippo Andreatta, Alexia Lazou, Nicole Mollett and Frog Morris, Mirror Mirror / Claire Cooke and Chiara Fumai.
